BYD Zhengzhou All-Terrain Racing Park Officially Opens, Creating a New Benchmark for NEV Driving Culture

Table of Contents

On August 14, BYD officially opened the Zhengzhou All-Terrain Racing Park. As one of the first all-terrain racing parks in China dedicated exclusively to new energy vehicles, the venue is built around the core concept of “a racetrack for everyone, fun for all,” and upholds BYD’s commitment to “technology for all.” The park breaks the traditional barriers of high thresholds, limited activities, and difficult reservation systems typically seen in racetracks, creating a full-scenario experience ecosystem that integrates extreme driving, professional training, brand events, and NEV cultural education.

Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD Group’s Branding and Public Relations Division, emphasized at the opening ceremony: “Good technology should be accessible to everyone. Exceptional experiences should also be accessible to everyone.”

A First-of-Its-Kind Terrain Concept: One Place to Experience Every Extreme Scenario

Unlike traditional racetracks that rely solely on asphalt circuits, BYD has introduced iconic terrains from across China into the racing park, enabling users to experience scenarios such as water navigation and desert climbing without long-distance travel.

One of the park’s highlights is the Sky Sand Dune Zone, featuring a 29.6-meter vertical height and a 28-degree gradient—setting two Guinness World Records for “the highest and largest sand-climbing test course.” This allows visitors to experience the thrill of desert hill climbs similar to Alxa without leaving the city. A 300-square-meter viewing platform at the summit provides a comfortable space to enjoy the spectacle regardless of extreme heat or cold.

The Floating Navigation Pool, built exclusively for the Yangwang U8, features a 70-meter water basin with transparent acrylic side windows, allowing visitors to observe how the vehicle—powered by BYD’s e⁴ platform—achieves directional control and movement on water, redefining safety standards in extreme environments.

A Realistic Training Ground for Extreme Conditions: Safety Technology Made Visible

Beyond offering thrilling driving experiences, the park serves as an ideal venue for showcasing BYD’s safety technologies.

The simulated ice track replicates icy road conditions using wet polished concrete. A mobile sliding plate further recreates passive loss-of-control situations, allowing participants to learn essential rescue techniques under realistic hazard simulations—a skill often required for driving tests in Nordic countries, now made accessible to everyday drivers in China.

Another innovation is the 44-meter low-friction circular track, built using more than 30,000 basalt bricks combined with a uniform 3 mm water-film control system. With friction levels between those of snow and ice, drivers—whether in a Sea Lion 07 or Denza Z9GT—can easily perform stable drift maneuvers. This allows the public to experience BYD’s millisecond-level vehicle control and stability systems firsthand, turning what was once a professional motorsport technique into a form of accessible entertainment.

Full-Scenario Driving Coverage: On-Road, Off-Road, and Camping Without Compromise

The park offers a full range of driving experiences, from high-speed acceleration to technical off-road challenges. The 1,758-meter main track includes nine turns and a 550-meter straightaway, supporting speeds exceeding 220 km/h for high-intensity acceleration experiences.

The 15,300-square-meter multifunction area includes standardized slalom courses, intelligent parking testing, AEB, moose test, hook test, and more—demonstrating BYD’s intelligent driving capabilities across diverse scenarios.

The 27 off-road modules accurately replicate signature terrains such as the Sichuan-Tibet route and the “Chengfo Slope,” covering both entry-level and advanced difficulty levels. With electric all-wheel drive, even urban SUVs can confidently tackle introductory off-road challenges.

After experiencing the unique terrains, visitors can relax in the 9,000-square-meter camping zone, enjoying sunset views over the track and open skies—seamlessly blending high-energy driving with peaceful outdoor leisure.

Expanding to Three Cities: Advancing Automotive Culture Nationwide

Following Hefei and Zhengzhou, BYD’s Shaoxing Racing Park is scheduled to open early next year. In East China, BYD will also build a natural-mountain off-road base covering 2,000 mu at an altitude of 500 meters, featuring bamboo forests, tea gardens, and a mountaintop lake. Users will be able to traverse natural terrain and reach “Little Tianchi,” merging off-road adventure with eco-tourism.

Together, the three locations will uphold the “all-terrain, all-scenario” philosophy, allowing users to explore more possibilities in driving enjoyment.

Launching the “New Racetrack Initiative”: Bringing Motorsports to the Masses

At the opening ceremony, BYD and CAMF (China Automobile and Motorcycle Sports Federation) jointly announced the launch of the “New Racetrack Initiative.” The goal is to reduce entry barriers, introduce more people to motorsport culture, and help “one million people enter the racetrack,” contributing new momentum to the development of China’s automotive culture.

The rise of automotive motorsports represents a symbolic milestone in China’s journey from being a major automotive market to becoming a true automotive powerhouse. The opening of BYD’s all-terrain racing parks is far more than an expansion of physical venues; it signifies a comprehensive upgrade of the automotive experience ecosystem.

By making advanced NEV technology visible and tangible, breaking professional barriers with “racetracks for all,” and serving as a bridge for the popularization of automotive culture, BYD is enabling more people to enjoy the benefits of new energy technology and the pure joy of driving—injecting strong vitality into China’s automotive industry.
