Flash charging is BYD’s name for its ultra-fast charging technology; the company unveiled a new generation of the system in March with peak single-gun power of up to 1,500 kW.<\/p>\n According to BYD, vehicles with the second-generation Blade Battery can charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes when using flash charging. For buyers comparing EVs, that speed addresses one of the biggest remaining barriers to adoption: long stops at public chargers.<\/p>\n EV buyers can choose motors with peak power of 240 kW (322 hp) or 120 kW. The faster version accelerates from 0 to 100 km\/h in as little as 5.8 seconds, and CLTC range is rated at 530 km or 630 km depending on the variant. The Qin family sold 661,090 units in 2025, making it one of BYD’s best-selling lineups and accounting for 14.36% of group sales. But volume has weakened sharply this year: July sales were 13,117 units, down 75.67% year-on-year, and January-July sales fell 50.55% to 162,291 units.<\/p>\n The decline highlights how quickly competition has intensified in China’s compact sedan segment, and why BYD needs a stronger flagship to defend share and pricing. BYD’s broader momentum remains strong: the company sold 419,211 NEVs at wholesale in July, up 21.76% year-on-year, the third consecutive month of annual growth.<\/p>\n For overseas buyers, the BYD Qin Max signals that the company is pushing flash charging into mainstream, affordable segments rather than reserving it for premium models. If the model follows the export path of other Qin and Dynasty lineup vehicles, the combination of aggressive pricing and nine-minute charging could intensify competition in export markets where charging speed is a key selling point.<\/p>\n Dealers and fleet operators should also note the cabin space and storage figures, which suggest the Qin Max is designed as a practical all-rounder rather than a marketing-only flagship.
